A set of eight demonstration models of geometric solids of equal height, each holding its own plane net inside. Used in K-12 mathematics classrooms to link a solid with its net and to calculate surface area.

Demonstration Features
  • Equal height: all models are of the same height, so solids of different shape are compared directly by placing them side by side
  • Transparency: through the transparent material the front and the rear faces are seen at the same time, so the edges drawn as dashed lines on a drawing can be pointed out on the model
  • Surface area: the unfolded net is a plane figure whose dimensions are measured with a ruler, and the surface area of the solid equals the sum of the areas of the parts of its net

Operation

  • After unpacking, count the models: there are eight, and each contains its own net. Make sure the net comes out of the model freely and goes back just as freely.
  • Inspect the models: check the edges, faces and vertices for chips and cracks. Wipe the transparent walls, as a dusty or smudged surface is poorly visible from the back desks.
  • Spread every net on the desk and check that no creases or folds are left from storage. A warped net is held spread under even pressure until it straightens.
  • Place the models base down on a level part of the demonstration desk, putting the solids to be compared side by side.
  • Show the model assembled and name its elements: bases, lateral surface, edges and vertices.
  • Take the net out of the model and spread it on the desk or fix it on the board. Match each part of the net with the corresponding part of the surface of the solid, showing that no area is missed and none is counted twice.
  • Measure the spread net with a ruler: for a prism the surface consists of two bases and a rectangular lateral part, for a cylinder of two circles and a rectangle, for a cone of a circle and a circular sector.
  • Fold the net back along its creases and put it into the model, showing the reverse transition from a plane figure to a solid. The same net does not fold into any other solid of the set.
  • Compare several solids of equal height placed side by side: the shape and size of the bases, the number of faces and edges, the presence of lateral edges, polyhedra as distinct from solids of revolution.
  • After the demonstration, return each net to its own model and pack the set.

Safety

  • Use the product only for the purpose described in the passport; students work with it under the supervision of a teacher.
  • Recommended for learners aged 10 years and older (grade 5 and above) in general secondary education institutions.
  • Protect the product from impacts, falling, excessive mechanical loads, moisture, direct sunlight and heaters.
  • Check completeness after every lesson: a model without its net loses its purpose, and a net without its model cannot be folded.
  • Do not bend the nets at arbitrary places and do not leave them folded under load, as the flexible plastic takes a permanent deformation.
  • Do not use the models as stands, props or cutting mats.

Maintenance

  • Wipe the models and the nets with a soft dry or slightly damp lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive powders, alcohol-based or solvent cleaners: they leave cloudy marks and fine scratches on the transparent material, through which the solid can no longer be seen.
  • Periodically check the completeness of the set and the condition of the nets. A net with a through tear or a permanent crease that prevents tight folding is replaced.

Storage and Transport

  • Storage temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C, relative humidity 60 percent, non-condensing, in a dry, clean, ventilated room protected from direct sunlight, moisture, dust and heat sources.
  • Operating conditions: air temperature +5 °C to +40 °C, relative humidity 40 to 60 percent, atmospheric pressure 84 to 107 kPa.
  • Store the product in its packaging, each net inside its own model and the models base down, not stacked on one another. Heating turns the transparent material yellow and warps the thin nets.
  • The product is supplied packed in the manufacturer's packaging; during transport, protect the packing from precipitation and impacts.

Compliance and Disposal

  • The product complies with the general product safety requirements established by European Union legislation.
  • The product is not electrical or electronic equipment, therefore the WEEE marking does not apply to it.
  • The product contains no hazardous substances and is disposed of as municipal solid waste after separation by material.

Warranty

  • Repair of defects and replacement of defective parts or covered equipment for three (3) years.
  • Availability of spare parts and consumables for five (5) years.
