Use

• Show the model assembled first: the outer surface presents the photosphere with the image of the manifestations of solar activity.
• Remove the segment and show the internal structure in sequence from the centre outwards: the core, the radiative zone, the convective zone, then the photosphere and the outer layers of the atmosphere. The boundaries of the zones are told apart by the colour coding, so keep the model still during the demonstration.
• Put the removed segment on the table next to the model, inner side up, instead of holding it throughout the demonstration.
• Point at the zones with a soft-tipped pointer without touching the marking with fingers.
• After the demonstration put the segment back: align its edges with the edge of the cut-out and press it evenly until it is flush with the surface of the sphere.

Preparation

• Unpack the globe and place it on a level horizontal table; check the stability — the model does not rock or shift when touched.
• Remove the surface segment and inspect the section: check that the colour coding of the zones is clear and free of wear and that the segment comes off without jamming and seats tightly back in place.
• Wipe dust off the outer surface of the sphere, the removable segment and the walls of the section with a dry soft cloth — dust on the colour coding reduces the contrast between adjacent layers.
• Turn the side with the removable segment towards the audience and provide even lighting of the section.

Safety

• Intended for general secondary education, for learners aged 10 and over (grade 5 and above), under the supervision of a teacher.
• Remove and refit the surface segment smoothly, with both hands, without skewing or excessive force — the joints between the segment and the sphere are thin and break under abrupt movements.
• Do not leave the removed segment on the edge of a table and do not place other objects on it.
• Do not place the product near heating appliances or in direct sunlight — the plastic deforms and the colour coding of the zones fades.
• Carry the product with both hands by the stand, with the segment fitted back in place.
• Fragments of a damaged plastic sphere have sharp edges: remove them with a brush and dustpan, not by hand.

Maintenance and storage

• Wipe the sphere, the removable segment and the stand with a dry or barely damp soft lint-free cloth. Solvents, alcohol and abrasives are not used — they remove the colour coding of the zones and the image on the outer surface.
• Check the fit of the removable segment and the stability of the stand periodically; if the segment no longer holds in the sphere, store it together with the model in one package so that it is not lost.
• Store the globe with the segment fitted in place, covered against dust, in a dry room at room temperature, away from heavy equipment and out of direct sunlight.
• Storage conditions: temperature +5 °C to +40 °C, relative humidity 60 %.

• Complies with the general product safety requirements of European Union legislation. The product is not electrical or electronic equipment, so the WEEE marking does not apply to it.
