Preparation for Work

  • Remove the packing inserts and check that all components are present and that their edges and connecting lugs are undamaged. Put small components straight onto a tray or into their packaging slot so they are not lost.
  • Set the model on its stand and check its stability: the stand should rest on all supports without rocking, and the model should sit firmly in it and not turn under its own weight.
  • Before the first demonstration, take the model apart and reassemble it yourself, memorising the order of removal and the position of the marks on the mating surfaces. The components fit together in one position only; assembling them turned to a different angle damages the lugs.
  • Wipe the dust off with a dry soft cloth and prepare space next to the model for laying out the removed components.

Disassembly and Assembly

  • Hold the model by the fixed part of the body, not by the detachable components.
  • Work from the outer shells inwards: first the front part of the model, then the lens, then the inner membranes, opening access to the retina and the exit point of the optic nerve. Lay each removed component on the tray in the order of removal, so that assembly follows in reverse without mistakes.
  • Remove components straight, without skewing or rocking. If a component resists, do not force it — check whether a neighbouring element is in the way and remove that one first.
  • Assemble in reverse order, matching the marks and shaped lugs on the mating surfaces. Components should meet without a gap; if a gap remains, separate the joint and repeat the fit rather than pressing the parts together.
  • After assembly, check that no component is left loose and that the model sits firmly on the stand.

Demonstration to a Class

  • Place the model on a level surface at a comfortable viewing height, with the cross-section plane facing the class, and check visibility from the back row before the lesson.
  • Provide side lighting: light directed from above produces glare on glossy surfaces and hides the relief of the internal structures.
  • Show the removed components one at a time, holding them by the edges, and return them to the tray. Do not pass small components along the rows — they get lost and damaged.

Safety

  • Use the product only for the purpose described in the manual; protect it from impacts, falls and excessive mechanical loads.
  • Remove and refit components only along the joints, without skewing or excessive force — the connecting lugs break.
  • Do not leave the model in direct sunlight or near heating appliances: the colouring fades and the components warp and stop mating.
  • Do not wash the model with hot water and do not use alcohol, acetone or other solvents — they dissolve the colouring.
  • Do not place the model at the edge of a table: a fall from the stand chips the edges of the components.
  • Keep small components in the supplied packaging; students work with the product under the supervision of a teacher. Recommended for learners aged 10 and older (grade 5 and up).

Operating and Storage Conditions

  • Air temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C
  • Relative humidity: 40 % to 60 %
  • Atmospheric pressure: 84 to 107 kPa (630-800 mm Hg)
  • Store the model assembled, in the supplied packaging, in a dry heated room out of direct sunlight, at +5 °C to +40 °C and relative humidity of 60 %. Keep the detachable components fitted in place rather than separately.

Maintenance

  • Wipe the model with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth; remove stubborn dirt with water and a neutral agent, then wipe the surface dry. Do not use solvents, abrasive powders or stiff brushes.
  • Periodically check the condition of the connecting lugs and the fixing of the model on the stand. A component with a cracked lug does not stay in place and falls out during a demonstration — it has to be replaced.

Warranty and Disposal

  • Warranty: 3 years, covering defect elimination and replacement of defective parts or equipment; spare parts and consumables available for 5 years.
  • Disposal: the product is not electrical or electronic equipment and carries no WEEE marking; it contains no hazardous substances and is disposed of as municipal waste after separation by material.
